Horbury Old Hall
by Janet Taylor
At the centre of the original village is Horbury Hall, our oldest building, built in 1474 during the reign of the Yorkist king, Edward IV. It was built opposite the Norman church, almost certainly by Ralph Amyas, the deputy steward of the Manor of Wakefield. Grade I listed. The west wing was demolished in the late 1930s. Remnants undergoing a slow process of restoration.
