Mark visited this station on Saturday 3 January 1970, the final day it was open, during a weekend that included many other stations about to close.
“At the time I had no concept of the fact that I would be destined to spend over half my life within a mile of the station (including 29 years actually on Quarry Hill!).” He comments that happily these days more lines and stations open, although he does not hold out great hopes for the restoration of Horbury and Ossett.
